Wasaga Beach
deserves a plan.

What matters most to you?

Together, we can elevate Wasaga.
Leslie R. Farkas
for Mayor of Wasaga Beach

This campaign is more than a list of promises. It explains what we want to achieve, how we will do it, why it matters, and the risks and costs of doing nothing. Residents should be able to understand not only the decisions made at Town Hall, but the reasoning behind them.

The Platform

The issues you care about.

We’ve taken the top issues on your mind and built a platform for change around the following four pillars.

Transparency

Open decisions. Open information. Open accountability.

A few words about Transparent Government
0:00 / 1:20

Trust in government begins with transparency. Residents should understand how decisions are made, how public money is spent, and why council chooses one course of action over another. Transparency is not simply about sharing information. It is about building trust through openness, accountability, and public participation.

A Show Your Work government starts from a simple principle: if information can legally be shared, it should be shared.

Residents should never have to guess how decisions are made. Government works best when it works in the open.

Infrastructure

Fix what we have before we approve what comes next.

A few words about Infrastructure First
0:00 / 1:05

Growth is important, but growth must be supported by infrastructure. Before approving major development, we must ensure our roads, drainage systems, utilities, emergency services, and public infrastructure can support the demands being placed upon them. Residents should never feel like infrastructure is constantly playing catch-up.

The best infrastructure works with nature, not against it. Growth should follow infrastructure, and infrastructure should respect the environment that makes Wasaga Beach unique.

Taxes

Spend wisely. Borrow carefully. Show the numbers.

A few words about Protecting Taxpayers
0:00 / 1:00

Every dollar spent by Town Hall belongs to the people of Wasaga Beach. Residents deserve confidence that their tax dollars are being managed responsibly and that major financial decisions are supported by clear evidence, transparent reporting, and sound planning.

Before council spends money, residents deserve to see the numbers. Financial responsibility is not about saying no to investment. It is about ensuring every investment delivers value to the community.

Community

Building a town where everyone belongs and can thrive.

A few words about Stronger Community
0:00 / 1:13

A strong community is built by people. It is built by seniors who helped shape our town, families raising the next generation, business owners creating opportunity, volunteers strengthening neighbourhoods, and municipal employees serving residents every day. A Stronger Community means creating opportunities for everyone to succeed and contribute.

Our goal is simple: a Wasaga Beach where people feel connected, valued and heard.

Beachfront Vision

One Shoreline,
Two Experiences.

Wasaga’s waterfront doesn’t have to sacrifice one thing for another. Tourism and conservation can live in harmony.

Tourism

A destination that delivers

A vibrant hub with the Marriott hotel, quality restaurants, gathering spaces, public amenities, and carefully planned commercial development.

+ How we’ll get it right

Hold developers to their agreements, put infrastructure first, and keep public beach access protected. Success is measured by what residents gain, not by how much gets built.

The tourism vision

Conservation

A park worth protecting

Primarily a beautiful municipal waterfront park with walking trails, family gathering spaces, improved public amenities, and natural landscaping.

+ Why nature comes first

Small complementary businesses have a place, but preservation takes priority. Protecting that character isn’t just good environmental policy, it’s good economic policy.

About Leslie

A record of doing the homework.

Leslie R. Farkas is a business owner and aviation professional with more than three decades of experience in one of the country’s most highly regulated industries, with a background built on safety, planning, documentation, and accountability. He has built businesses, created jobs, and managed budgets and staff, and in March 2026 transitioned ownership of one business to the very people who helped build it.

For over a decade he has served the community as a Chamber of Commerce Director, sat on the Economic Development and Tourism Advisory Committee, presented delegations to council, and helped residents navigate municipal processes, reviewing agendas, budgets, and financial statements line by line.

A father of four and grandfather of six, now raising two young children, Leslie brings a multi-generational view of the challenges facing families, seniors, and everyone in between.
